Una base s\u00f3lida es la clave para construir un sistema de conexi\u00f3n a tierra adecuado; al igual que es imprescindible en cualquier proyecto de edificaci\u00f3n. Las posibles variaciones en la resistencia a la electricidad hacen imperativo realizar pruebas de resistividad del suelo antes de dise\u00f1ar un sistema de puesta a tierra. Por ejemplo, si intenta conectar a tierra un sistema en un suelo rocoso que es poco conductor, es posible que una sobretensi\u00f3n el\u00e9ctrica no se transfiera a tierra de manera segura. \u00a1Podr\u00eda retroceder y da\u00f1ar o destruir la estructura que estaba tratando de proteger! La clasificaci\u00f3n del suelo proporciona solo una aproximaci\u00f3n aproximada. Muchos factores pueden cambiar las medidas de resistividad del suelo, algunos de los cuales incluyen humedad, temperatura, tipo y profundidad.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Humedad<\/strong> tiende a mejorar la conductividad del suelo. A temperaturas por debajo del punto de congelaci\u00f3n, los materiales de relleno a base de arcilla o cemento, que dependen del agua como conductor principal, pueden solidificarse y, por lo tanto, fallar.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tipos de suelo<\/strong> con alto contenido org\u00e1nico suelen ser buenos conductores. El m\u00e1s com\u00fan y confiable es el m\u00e9todo de prueba de cuatro puntos de Wenner. Ambos m\u00e9todos espacian sus sondas de electrodos de manera uniforme correspondiente a la profundidad del suelo que se investiga. Sin embargo, los m\u00e9todos utilizan f\u00f3rmulas diferentes para calcular los valores de resistividad. La prueba se realiza colocando cuatro sondas de prueba en el suelo espaciadas a distancias iguales a lo largo de la tierra cruda donde se requiere el sistema de conexi\u00f3n a tierra. Se adjunta un medidor de tierra a las sondas para recopilar los n\u00fameros necesarios para calcular la resistencia del suelo utilizando la ley de Ohm. Los valores del suelo pueden variar desde 500 \u03a9 cm con grandes cantidades de electrolitos hasta m\u00e1s de 1 mill\u00f3n de \u03a9 cm en suelos arenosos secos.
