GroundGuardian® Bypass Conductors
ALLTEC’s patented GroundGuardian® Bypass Conductors for External Floating Roof Tanks (EFRTs) provide a permanent and low resistance-low impedance connection between the floating roof and the tank shell wall.
GroundGuardian® Bypass Conductors are engineered to meet the American Petroleum Institute (API) Recommended Practice 545 Sect. 4.2.1.2.2, which states: “Each conductor, including connections shall have a maximum end-to-end resistance of 0.03 ohms (Ω),” and Sect. 4.2.1.2.1, “Bypass Conductors are used for conduction of the intermediate and long duration component of a lightning strike.”

Quantity of Required GroundGuardian® – Bypass Conductors
Multiple GroundGuardian® – Bypass Conductors on each tank will provide low-resistance and low impedance pathways to safely route lightning currents. There is a minimum of two (2) GroundGuardian® – Bypass Conductors per tank, with spacing averaging no more than every 30 m, in accordance with API 545 4.2.1.2.2.
